Budokan Karate

The original Karate emerged from folk-dances of Chinese monks about 2000 years ago. At the beginning of the 20th century it was brought to Japan via the island Okinawa. Besides other kinds of martial arts Grandmaster Chew Choo Soot learned Karate there and brought it to Malaysia where he refined it to the  present-day Karate Budokan. Since 1966 he finally taught his new style and even was able to bring some of his students to the rank of black belt. During the following years a few of this students left Malaysia and herby they brought the style of Budokan Karate to many different countries all over the world. Karate Budokan took its further way when Grandmaster Al Rayess – Karateka of Shotokan Karate at that time – visited Malaysia where he acquired the techniques of Karate Budokan and brought them to Lebanon. There he trained Grandmaster Abed El Saleh and many other students. In 1989 Grandmaster Abed El Saleh came to Germany where he started to teach Karate Budokan in the club SV Renningen for the first time. After the closing down of the clubhouse he continued his classes in the club TSV Malmsheim. During that time Master Georg Gross started to train with him as a young boy. Over the years Roland Beck, Ute Heimpel, Alexander Schicker, Andreas Lindner and of course also his own son Tarek El Saleh started to train under the instruction of Grandmaster Abed El Saleh. These students even kept faith with Grandmaster Abed El Saleh when discrepancies arose in the club TSV Malmsheim. After quitting the membership in the club they trained with him in their free time. In 2006 they finally founded the club KBK Sindelfingen e.V. (today KBK Renningen e.V.) where the style of Karate Budokan is still taught.
